Mission Statement

The UNITED ALASKAN KLEE KAI ASSOCIATION (UAKKA)
(originally known as The North East Alaskan Klee Kai Association)
was formed to do everything possible to protect, promote and advance the best interests, health and welfare of purebred Alaskan Klee Kai (AKK) and to continue to bring their natural qualities to perfection through responsible breeding practices; and to promote the recognition and acceptance of the AKK as a separate and distinct breed of Nordic and Spitz heritage.

To this end, UAKKA embraces the following objectives:

1. To require members to sign and abide by the UAKKA Guidelines for Owners and Breeders of Alaskan Klee Kai as a condition of Association membership;

2. To recognize the official United Kennel Club (UKC) Alaskan Klee Kai Breed Standard as the only standard by which all breeding and conformation judging decisions are based;

3. To keep the welfare of the Breed paramount in all decisions, and to prohibit and oppose the sale or trade of puppies/dogs to pet stores, puppy brokers, wholesalers, retailers or medical research and/or agents thereof;

4. The AKK Breed having gained full recognition by the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA) and the UKC – UAKKA will promote gaining full and complete recognition and acceptance of the Alaskan Klee Kai breed by The American Kennel Club and The Canadian Kennel Club;

5. To hold conformation point shows according to the rules and regulations of The United Kennel Club and to encourage the participation by members in any and all other forms of competition held by the Association;

6. To encourage the participation of our breed in events sponsored by The United Kennel Club, The American Rare Breed Association and all other forms of competition open to the Alaskan Klee Kai;

7. To encourage sportsmanlike behavior from its members at all times;

8. To encourage and promote the widespread formation of independent local AKK Specialty Clubs;

9. To strive to educate it’s members through the Club Newsletter and it’s Official Web Site, and to educate the general public about the Alaskan Klee Kai breed wherever and whenever possible.
